Pichetto Fratin: "Italy joins the Nuclear Alliance at the Energy Council"

"On the occasion of the next Energy Council, scheduled for June 16 in Luxembourg, Italy will join the Nuclear Alliance ."
This was stated by the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, at Pianeta 2030, the Corriere della Sera festival currently underway in Milan. Until now, Italy had participated in the meetings of the Nuclear Alliance as an observer country.
Next Monday "I will formulate the declaration of adhesion to the Alliance for Nuclear Power. So we move from observers to real actors, because there is a choice of the government in this direction", Pichetto Fratin stated.
The minister recalled that "today we consume 310 billion kilowatt hours and the forecast is that by 2040 we will be at 600 billion. So, somewhere we have to produce energy if we want to remain a country in the leading group in the world, a rich country that gives a future to our children and grandchildren".
Nuclear, he stressed, "is integrative, not alternative."
